Sigma Kappa-Xi Chapter: Xi's Blog from Convention!

This summer, convention has been a celebration of many exciting milestones! For myself and my sisters from Xi chapter, this is our first, and definitely not our last, Convention. We have been looking forward to this all semester, as it is particularly special for Xi, who will be celebrating her Centennial in April! Seeing so many chapters just starting out on their journey of lifelong sisterhood as a Sigma Kappa chapter makes me appreciate even more the long history of Xi and the many outstanding alumnae, advisors and collegiate members who have helped to grow and build Xi into the chapter that it is today.

On Wednesday night, we reflected on the fact that Sigma Kappa has colonized 5 chapters in the past 2 years; talk about an outstanding achievement!! Not only were new chapters added, but dozens of new Sigma Kappa sisters joined our bond. Watching those charters being handed out was a moment I will never forget, and being able to witness and celebrate a very important part of those chapters' histories was such a special, unforgettable moment.

Knowing that Sigma Kappa continues to grow and that it provides me with new sisters with every colonization, is the most amazing concept. Not many people can say that they have thousands of sisters across the nation (and even world)! We are particularly excited at Xi for The University of Missouri to be recolonized this year! Nothing better than receiving a new batch of sisters close by!

So far, Convention has been nothing short of spectacular! As part of Xi's Centennial, we are sponsoring the reception of the Awards Banquet to share our milestone with our wonderful sisters at Convention. It's amazing to think that the chapters who received their charters this week will be in our shoes in 100 years, continuing this special bond we share as sisters. I bet our founders would be so proud to know that we continue to create everlasting bonds based on their dreams and ideals for us as women!
